Where does the time go? This winter hasn’t been blah for all I used that word in my title … well, maybe a few days were rather grey, but we have been quite busy. Besides work, walking the Os, cooking meals, and finding housekeeping and sleep time we have been occupied by more amusing things.
Let’s see, we got back on our cross-country skis and have managed to go out at least once a week, and sometimes as many as three. We started out on Long Lake because that means I don’t have to worry about falling and rebreaking my tailbone. Then we got a little bored with that, so have taken to going to Chadburn Lake trails. There are lots of options there but we have stayed to the mostly flat trails. Those readers who don’t know Whitehorse should understand we have amazing trails everywhere. We started late enough in the year that we decided not to join the ski club and ski at Mount McIntyre. It is fairly expensive and you can’t just let your dogs run about like we can on Long Lake and at Chadburn Lake. So part of skiing is our getting some exercise and also giving the Os a good long time to run about sniffing everything they can find.
I’ve been knitting … but that isn’t new, just where might be though! Lawrie is curling a lot and so this winter I’ve taken to watching when he’s been curling on the weekend. Of course I can’t just sit and watch, I knit as well. Two sleeves and a bit of the back of a sweater got accomplished!
We went for a visit to friends who live at Fox Lake. Jonathan is a boat builder so we had a quick look at his project in progress. Amazing work I say! Thanks Jill and Jonathan for a great day.
We leave for Tasmania in less than three weeks, so this winter has been planning for that trip. Of course I’m going to tell you to watch for that update to the Travel section of this blog. I doubt we will actually accomplish any entries while we are away, but maybe we could at least say hello if we find a convenient location to access the internet that doesn’t get in the way of our sightseeing and enjoying a different locale in the world.
While we are in Tasmania we are going on a 6 day hiking trip so we have spent a fair bit of time trying to get our backpacks adjusted so the hiking is fun. We are also booked on a cycling trip for 7 days so getting our legs and other parts in tune has meant we have spent time riding a bike that is temporarily stationary. This is boring though. I’m quite sure that cycling outdoors is going to be lots of fun.
Perhaps I’ll manage another entry before we leave. … but then again … maybe not!
