My birthday today … not quite 50, so it isn’t a big deal. Dorothy is going to Toronto for work and suggests we come with her. The truck is in for a much needed servicing today, Oscar, Oreo, and Buddy will get a walk mid-day with Ruth, Dorothy’s very kind sister, and we don’t need to get frazzled trying to find our way around Canada’s biggest city. How ideal is that? And it works out just peachy. We get a subway pass for the day, hop on board and zip up to the Royal Ontario Museum. There are of course at least 6 school buses outside the front doors and we are sure they are just the latest wave to disgorge a bunch of noisy brats. The probability of returning to Toronto with time to do this is likely slim to none so we go in anyway. We think we most want to see the Ancient Civilization display and despite the unruly kids do enjoy what we saw. It is a museum for studiers, not streakers and with the noise going on around us we wanted to be streakers. After about two hours we call it quits, blast through the dinosaurs … they were awesome … and leave.
Next stop was the Bata Shoe Museum, the highly recommended Bata Shoe Museum. Now that was quiet, air-conditioned, informative, amusing, you could read almost everything and not feel totally overwhelmed, and I’d call that a great, if not excellent, museum. Good job Bata! Next it is back to the subway, around the U and up to Eaton Centre. It is just a huge mall, but it is a place to meet up with Dorothy and plan the evening.
We do precisely that, decide to go to the harbourfront, catch the subway again and then a streetcar and voila, Toronto harbour.
This is interesting enough, we find an eatery and enjoy some time off our feet. I’m totally happy with the day. Even coming home is fine, Dorothy is a great driver and the aggressive truckers don’t seem to faze her at all. I’m glad to be a passenger!
Happy birthday to youuuuu happy birthday to youuuuu happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday to youuu. lololol I hope you’re still having a great time! Miss ya.
