Gorgeous drive into Stewart, too bad it stopped there. It is definitely worth the drive, but our impression of Stewart is that it is somewhat depressed. The homes appear run-down, many buildings for sale, and just an air of neglect. There is a Toaster Museum, you know the thing you toast your bread in, that makes going to Stewart worth the bit of time it takes.
The rest of the day was spent travelling to Port Edward. The highway was great from Bell II to Meziadin Junction, really great to Kitwanga and fantastic to Port Edward. We were surprised by the size, cleanliness and vibrancy of Terrace … they even have a Canadian Tire! Spring happened on the way to Kitwanga, Terrace was greener yet, and here it could be summer, if it weren’t for the rain. The Provincial Parks are now not open, nor does it seem like they are taken care of either, go figure! So we are now at Kinnikinnick Campground, a little rough around the edges but certainly adequate. Once again we have the place to ourselves.
