We have decided to lump these next few days together. We reluctantly say goodbye to Dorothy and Buddy. These last few days have been so, so relaxing for us with not having to tow the trailer and do the set up and take down repeatedly. Many thanks Dorothy for everything – the birthday trip to Toronto, birthday book I’m sure to enjoy, for being the home base, sharing your family with us, the walks, the O2 babysitting, and the various interesting conversations – all greatly appreciated.
Dorothy and Buddy, a very special combination!
Oscar and Oreo are getting a face and ear trim today before we leave Kitchener. The owners of The Animal Den are very kind and do a wonderful job. Their Yorkshire terriers are delighted to play with our two for a while and that is worth a good laugh. It isn’t often Oscar and Oreo get to play with dogs half their size and they obviously enjoy it! By early afternoon we are off to Earl Rowe Provincial Park which is chosen for its location … closer to Peterborough than Kitchener. We discover it is a very nice park and decide to stay for the weekend. It looks like there is some nice countryside to explore around Alliston and so we do. We are always on the look-out for a good place to walk the dogs and Lawrie spied a side road that doesn’t seem well used. So stop we do and wander down this road that I’m sure hasn’t been used in a couple years. It is wonderfully cool beneath the maple trees, then a little pond and our first indication that indeed humans have been here. A lovely spot. And here pictures will tell the story much better than words. We do finally notice a couple houses way up a hill that appear to look down on the pond. Odd though, that the pond does not seem to have seen any traffic in quite some time. Lovely spot … oh, I already said that!
Earl Rowe proves to be a wonderful stop. It seems like we just needed a rest away from all the hustle bustle of the big city. The Park is really close to Alliston, about a kilometre away, and we take the opportunity to drive around the town and admire all the red brick and stone houses. There is not a lot more to talk about so it is on to the next leg of our trip.
I love the picture of the hidden pond — especially with the sunken boat. VERY COOL! Nice shot.
