Lawrie’s interview call comes in at 2 minutes past the hour and he’s there for about an hour and a half. It goes well he thinks … should know the results by a week this Friday. Thanks to Michaelea and Jon for their fine hospitality and great directions out of town. We stop at CAA for guide books and maps, and even more directions, this time out of the parking lot. Not much to say about the rest of the trip to Medicine Hat … even Lawrie is bored with the prairie long before we get there. After turning down Highway 41 things get more interesting. As with most things on the prairie, Cypress Hills are visible from a long way out. These hills are here because the glacier went around this area and so did not flatten it! It is a must see area.
Elkwater is a great little community within the park boundary, though it appears to be mostly summer time occupancy. The campgrounds, and there are about 500 sites we think, are really nicely laid out amid big spruce trees.
The town’s inhabitants include a large deer and wild turkey population. I don’t think too many gardens flourish here. This could be a great retirement location!

After a long drive Cypress Hills and Elkwater are a nice finish to the day.
Again, beautiful photos…
