After an excellent breakkie we load into the van and drive part way to Freycinet National Park. We cycle about 30 km today and then are “there”. Lunch, then gear up for a hike. I’m sure this is to give our aching backsides a break! In fact it is a pretty strenuous hike as there are steps most of the way and that is hard on the legs. But all worth the view and the beach is spectacular. The beach at Wineglass Bay has been rated as one of the top ten beaches in the world. I haven’t seen the other nine but this one is magnificent. Just over a kilometre long with beautiful white sand, it is easy to imagine whaling schooners anchored in the bay.
It’s a bit of a slog heading back, but the barbeque waiting at the end is very welcoming. Kabobs, well lets just say everything anyone could ever want in a barbeque was there. I even find out that what I thought was overly sweet lemonaid, was in fact concentrate! A good laugh for everyone. It’s dark when we get back and we take our tired bodies to bed.
I’m super happy you were on a beach on my birthday…thanks a bunch. Want to trade places?
love the photos mom/lawrie! Keep up the good work on the bikes. I’m pretty sure I know what your backside’s feel like…and I’m glad it’s not me on the bikes right now. I’d much rather do that trip on a motorbike!
