It is such fun getting up at 3 or so in the morning and not sleeping again until the next day at 1 am! Exhausted by then and most of the time in between was occupied with doing very little. Hmmm, ferries are like airports and airplanes. Hurry up and wait! It was pouring rain when we woke up and I’m sure the water starved St. John’s population were thankful for the moisture. It stopped in time to hook up the trailer and then resumed as a normal rain until we arrived in Argentia. The drive to the ferry was very uneventful fortunately. The potential to encounter a moose is really high and isn’t something one wants to have happen in the dark. I had hoped we could wander around Castle Hill National Historic Site before going to the ferry terminal but there was a gate across the road and the walk to get there too long. Too bad, maybe next time. The ferry infrastructure is very well organized and we are away in good time. The next 15 hours were spent playing rummi cube, knitting (Lynn), watching movies, watching the Olympics (Lawrie), taking Oscar and Oreo out of the trailer for walks (not allowed above decks), and eating. An okay day, though I’d rather do these things without the company of a few hundred other people! I didn’t take a single picture all day, the weather was foggy and grey and totally uninspiring. You can get therapy if no pictures here cause you grief! Oh, and one other bit of trivial … the ferry we got to go to Newfoundland on the Port au Basques run was the same one that does the Argentia run, so you can go to that entry if you want to see what the ferry looked like. This is very likely our last ferry too!
