This parking lot is one of four that were as crammed as this one. The attraction, Hopewell Rocks aka Flowerpot Rocks. Cost to get in, $7.00 per person.
When we visited this exact same place ten years ago, there were just Lynn and myself and about six other people. It helps of course that it was in early October, but come on, there are thousands of people here! We just aren’t in the mood to fight the crowds for something we have already seen. If you really want to see what Hopewell Rocks look like, just look at any New Brunswick travel guide, the rocks are always on the cover somewhere! Well, so we give Hopewell Rocks the bypass and cruise into Moncton. What is neat about Moncton is the brand new city of Dieppe that is right next door. Being as we live on Dieppe Street well it behooves us to pay them a visit. Nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live here. It has all the big box stores and relatively new subdivisions. No charm or character. We do manage to update the blog and catch up on some e-mails before leaving en route to Murray Beach Campground.
It is sometimes quite frustrating finding these provincial parks as the route maps are only just adequate and usually only one route to the park is signed. If you come from a different direction – well good luck. However, after two left turns when one would have been enough, we do find the place. Out for an evening drive we find a great place to run the dogs and also get our first views ever of the Confederation Bridge. We also decide that we will head into Prince Edward Island the next day. Our campsite is right on the Northumberland Strait so we are treated to a very red setting sun and cooling ocean breezes.
