The sky looks a little lighter today, so maybe it won’t rain. We are off south again, continuing our diagonal traverse of New Brunswick. On the map you see a line from Fredericton to St. Stephens, we are on that route. This takes us past a place I can’t resist stopping at and that is the Briggs and Little Woolen Mill. The mill was established in 1857 and is still a going concern. We had a great wander around the building and only regret that it isn’t in operation. The summer is the maintenance time for the mill so it is pretty quiet. The staff are wonderfully helpful and friendly. I don’t break the bank, but do come away with patterns and wool for a sweater, three pairs of socks, a pair of thrummed mittens and some yarn for a project that has to be finished before I arrive home in November! Yikes, what with the yarn I already have, and the projects already underway, you could say this newest batch constitutes ‘a stash’! Where is the camera? Not much to take pictures of in any case … at least not until we arrive in St. Andrews by-the-Sea. Here is a little sample of what we saw today.
We had the yummiest scallops for supper and then took Oscar and Oreo on a beach walk that didn’t end as nice as normally. We walked the beach and then took a path through some woods … and were attacked by ants that bite… called fire ants! If you go into the woods today … was about bears not ants, however it was a dash for the trailer and a bath for Oscar and Oreo. We got bit a few times, but they were obviously in much greater discomfort for longer than we were!
Okay. Stop it. Come home… Sheep season in two weeks.
